Scripting

Working to translate the unique elements of story presented by the project into shot lists, sequences, story hinges and twists. In short, to ensure that understand the palette we need to capture before going in to the shoot.

Shooting

Single or multi-camera shooting. Using lighting, camera glides, audio and many artful tricks to heighten the drama or intrigue where necessary.

Editing & Finishing

Building the story. Working closely with audio elements. Strengthening the impact and completing the piece through graphics, color grading, narration and sound engineering.

What We Do

We do two things. We produce stirring documentaries for a global audience on subjects that matter, and we produce marketing films for clients who bring genuine value to this world. Our projects span multiple formats including online short-form video, long-form documentary, fine art exhibits and image-based books.

Our method is simple: we work really hard. We plan, and we plan again. We always push the edge of what has been done before, looking for fresh things to try. Our art is the art of story – teasing our audience forward into a fresh reality.

Why We Do It

Our mission is to create films that catalyze action and draw closer an era in which societies truly hold ecological and social interdependence, diversity, ingenuity and man’s deepest callings as priorities, and are able to express those priorities through the status quo set in place by their decision makers.

Our Vision

The Film-Maker

Founder, Director & Cinematographer, Caroline Harrison

Caroline is a pig farmer’s daughter. Life began in the misty depths of Southern England, where Caroline developed an early joy of setting out to explore new things. What began as bare foot journeys across the fields in time became adventures across the globe with a camera.

Caroline has worked on multiple prime time science and environment documentaries for the BBC including the climate exposé ‘Global Dimming’ which went on to win the prestigious Wildsreen ‘Planet Earth’ award. She has been the principal videographer & photographer for the Earthwatch Institute and spent several years presenting radio programs for the BBC World Service and the ABC in Australia.

As The Hive Studios continues to grow, Caroline collaborates with different people on different projects ranging from editors, writers, producers, animators and finishers.
